MATERIAL BALANCE: MASS CUSTOMIZATION FROM MICRO TO MACRO SCALE
Andrea Giglio is an architect, PhD candidate at ABC department, Politecnico di Milano. In 2016 he obtained his master’s degree in architecture at Federico II di Napoli with a thesis on digital fabrication and computational design processes for structural and environmental refurbishment of existing buildings. From 2013 and 2017 he collaborated as intern with COdesignLab, a studio that develops research by design projects developing a parametric approach with the aim to explore the interaction between natural materials, digital fabrication processes and smart construction systems. These projects allow him to gain several papers and scientific publications. In 2017 he has started a Postgraduate master’s degree in Sustainable Buildings and Infrastructure specializing in architectural acoustic. Since 2018 he has held the position of research fellow at Ingrid Paoletti’s research group “Material Balance” to develop the research line “Advanced Acoustic Ecology”. His research interest currently centres the improvement of acoustic performance of spacer membrane working on the material system, computational methods and advanced fabrication processes.
